Beatriz Galindo, called the "America" (Salamanca, c. 1465 - Madrid, November 23, 1534) was a Spanish writer and humanist, tutor to Queen Isabella and her children. It was one of the most educated women of her time.Beatriz Galindo was born into a gentry family of origin Zamora. She was chosen to be a nun, which parents decided to take grammar classes in one of the institutions under the University of Salamanca. She showed great talent for Latin, at fifteen, and he spoke with great correctness. His fame spread and became known as "La Latina". In 1486, she was preparing to enter the convent as a nun, was named by Queen Isabel the Catholic to the Court. Their presence in court was not limited solely to his work as a governess, but the queen was highly valued his advice.
Married in December 1491 with the master gunner and chief of the Catholic Monarchs Francisco Ramirez de Madrid, had two sons, Fernando and Nuflo. Widowed in 1501, retiring from the court and settled his residence in Madrid, which today is the Palacio de Viana.
